i am going to be brave and try for the technical set. eep! only i feel very stupid, but i don't quite know what 'selective colouring' is. is that when you only colour a portion of the image and the rest is b&w?

It's Photoshop term. Basically you mess with the colors of the image; but feel free to interpret it how you like :)
